Rukungiri – Rev Joseph Tugume was yesterday installed as the new parish priest of St.Peter’s Church of Uganda Rusheshe in Buhunga sub- county Rukungiri district.
The installation ceremony was presided over by Van. Benson Akakwasa who asked Christians to respect God’s people because they represent him on this earthly planet.

He also asked them co- operate with the newly installed priest saying that co-operation is the only way that will lead to development.
Speaking as the guest of honor, The Minister for Security who doubles as the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Rtd. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi hailed church for supporting government programs which aims at chasing poverty at household levels.
Minister Muhwezi who was represented by his political Assistant Isaac Kaharuza said that the government has introduced very many poverty fighting programs like PDM , Youth and women empowerment saying that without church such programs wouldn’t have been implemented very well.
The minister also called for peace and harmony in the coming 2026 general elections saying that elections are for a short time and there is life after elections.

In an interview with our reporter shortly after his installation ceremony, Rev. Joseph Tugume promised to co-operate with the Christians of St.peters church of Uganda Rusheshe.

He also pledged to put more emphasis on expanding God’s Kingdom on this earthly planet.
