Rukungiri – Prayers for the release of Dr Kizza Besigye has overwhelmed Rukungiri district Muslim Eid Al-Adha Mubarak prayers.
The moslems used Eid Al-Adha Mubarak prayers session and urged President Museveni and his NRM government to release the former Presidential Contender and their son Dr Kizza Besigye who has been in jail for over 6 months now.
They say Dr. Besigye, who is currently in Luzira maximum prison is facing rights violations that could happen to any Ugandan.
This was during today’s Eid Al.Adha Mubarak prayers that took place at Rukungiri mosque in southern division in Rukungiri municipality.
“We are calling on the government and President Museveni to release our son Dr. Besigye such that he can also enjoy himself in his nation Uganda because he is being jailed for no good reason “. Sheikah Turyasingura Muhammad who the led Eid Al- Adha Mubarak prayers said.
Sheikah Turyasingura added “the continued custody of Dr Besigye as a clear violation of his basic freedom and human rights. Fundamental freedoms must be respected”.
He also asked Moslems to support one another and work in hand to develop their families.
Ali Mugisha,a moslem and a resident of Rukungiri municipality said ” our son Dr Kizza Besigye should be released because there is on good reason as to why he jailed and it is from this background that am asking president Museveni and his family to kindly release Dr Kizza Besigye “.
Mr Ahmed Jonan said Dr Kizza Besigye has Suffered for what is enough.
” The government should allow our son Dr Besigye to enjoy himself in his country because it hearts as Rukungiri people to the see our son rotting in jail”. Mr Ahmed said.
Speaking as the guest during the Eid Al-Adha Mubarak prayers that took place at Rukungiri mosque in southern division Rukungiri municipality , Mugume Rolland Kaginda, the former Rukungiri municipality member of Parliament said that the government should respect people’s need and request and release Dr Kizza Besigye.
“The government should think about Rukungiri people and release Dr Kizza Besigye from jail because this is people’s request. The president may refuse but he should know he is arresting for political reasons because Mr Museveni fears Dr Besigye ” Mr Kaginda said
The former member of Parliament used the same platform and asked Moslems to co-operate with one and put their political differences aside and work for the development of their families.
“Kindly go and work for the development of your families and leave your political differences here . I want inform you that yesterday our new party PPF ( people’s Front for freedom) was officially registered and it now a full recognized people so go and inform others “. Mr Kaginda said.
The former legislator used Eid Al-Adha Mubarak prayers and declared his intensions for run for the Rukungiri municipality member of Parliament seat in the coming 2026 general elections under PPF once given flag.
What is Eid -Al Adha Mubarak?
Eid Al Adha Mubarak Is also known as Bakrid Eid and it also called the Feast of Sacrifice which celebrates in Islam.
It is a festival to honour the willingness of prophet Ibrahim to follow the command of Allah to sacrifice his only son
The holy occasion also marks the culmination of the pilgrimage which is a religious obligation.
