Rukungiri – The minister of Security Rtd Maj Gen Jim K Muhwezi has called for peaceful elections in Uganda if the country is to gain lasting peace.
Addressing Christians of Christ the King Catholic parish in Rukungiri Municipality during the celebrations of Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF) that took place at parish headquarters in Eastern division Rukungiri municipality, Minister Muhwezi said the country is heading into a political season that will be full of misunderstandings between participating individuals.
” Elections are for a short period of time and therefore we should not fight. Lets remain calm that’s when the country will go through elections in a peaceful manner “. Minister Muhwezi said.

The Minister used the same platform and asked Ugandans to embrace government programs that aims at chasing poverty at household levels.
” The gov’t has introduced very many poverty fighting programs like PDM, youth funds, women funds among others . So it’s high time you embrace them and fight poverty in your homes”. Minister Muhwezi added.
Earlier during the mass, Rev.Fr.Innocent Young Buregyeya asked Christians to always support church activities and the well being of their church leaders.
He also prayed for peaceful elections saying that the country needs to remain calm and peaceful since there is life after elections.
The Bishop Annual Appeal Fund of Christ the King Catholic parish was organized to raised to raise funds for the construction of parish house that will provide shelter for the church leaders.
