The murder case involving the late businessman Henry Katanga, which implicates his widow and four others, is scheduled to resume on Monday at Nakawa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kampala.
Henry Katanga tragically died from a gunshot wound following a dispute with his wife, Molly Katanga, at their home in Mbuya on November 2, 2023. Subsequently, Molly Katanga faced murder charges brought by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Jane Frances Abodo.
In addition to the murder charge against Molly, the DPP also filed charges of destroying evidence against Patricia Kakwanza and Martha Nkwanzi for allegedly tampering with the crime scene. Furthermore, George Amanyire and Charles Otai face the charge of being accessories after the fact of murder for purportedly aiding the suspects in evading punishment.

Molly Katanga, who was hospitalized at International Hospital Kampala for treatment following the incident, remains admitted to date, while the other four defendants are in Luzira Prison pending investigations.
The defendants are expected to appear before Nakawa Court Chief Magistrate Elias Kakooza to receive updates on the status of the ongoing investigations.
A preliminary police report, obtained by New Vision, revealed that the fatal shooting was reported on November 2 at Bugolobi Police Station. The report outlined that Henry Katanga was found lifeless with a gunshot wound to his head in the master bedroom, where a heated argument had taken place.
The police report detailed the daughter’s account, stating that she witnessed the altercation between her parents, followed by a gunshot in the bedroom. Upon entering, she discovered her father with a head wound and her unconscious mother on the ground. The family rushed Molly to IHK Hospital for treatment before the arrival of the police.
The report also mentioned the recovery of a CZ99 compact pistol with the serial number UG16222 00061 at the scene.
