Rukungiri .The Rubabo county aspiring member of Parliament Andrew Niwabaine was yesterday caned by a woman in the Rukungiri district NRM party elections.
In an election that took place yesterday 22rd.May 2025 in the district main Andrew Niwabaine was seriously caned by Ms Jolly Mashaija.
The two were competing for the position of Secretary for finance on the Rukungiri district NRM party mainstream committee.
Jolly Mashaija got 207 caning Andrew Niwabaine who polled 23 votes only.
In related developments Ambrose Kibuka was elected unopposed as vice-chairperson, while Paul Rukundo secured the secretary-general position with 323 votes, defeating Henry Niwagaba, who only managed 56 votes.
The publicity secretary role went to Fred Kabwaira, who received 215 votes against Edwin Kuteesa Kaziriri’s 95 and Brian Tumukunde’s 17.
