National – Today’s morning flooding in Uganda’s capital city has claimed 2 lives Uganda Red cross officials have confirmed.
The Uganda Red Cross added that the heavy downpour locked Kampala Metropolitan Area Killing two lives of juveniles in Mulimira zone in Bukoto a Kampala suburb.
According to Uganda Red Cross Spokesperson Irene Nakasita, the mother of the deceased juveniles left them in the house at night and went for her night duties.
“By the time the heavy downpour started, she had not returned from night duties and running waters entered the house claiming the lives of sleeping Juveniles,”. Ms Nakasita said.
Ms Nakasita added ” The response team tried to rescue the juveniles, but it was too late to save their lives.
Ms Nakasita noted that a lot of houses and properties were also destroyed by heavy floods saying that the assessment team is on ground working with the police assisted by the community to ensure the situation normalizes.
