Sadick Ssempigi’s resignation as assistant coach Mbarara City Football Club left many club fans and enthusiasts wondering what might have befallen their club.
Ssempigi’s resignation comes in two days after head coach Livingstone Mbabazi tendered in his resignation, sighting ‘betrayal’ by club management.
While Mbabazi went out after feeling betrayed by the club management policies, Ssempigi says he’s leaving because he feels his ambitions are quite minor to the club’s ambitions but says other issues are confidential for the sake of the club’s image.

“I am leaving because I feel me and management have different ambitions and we can’t follow the same line. Let me leave them to allow them to run successfully. But for the good image of the club, the rest of the issues are confidential that I won’t reveal them for the sake of the club image,” Ssempigi said.
Ssempigi refuted talk that he resigned in the same fashion as Mbabazi, and did not rule out a possibility of a second coming to Kakyeka.
“However, I will keep Mbarara City FC in my heart because of the many employees, they employed me meaning they respected me for the job. I wish them well because when you leave in peace, you never know,” he said.
Ssempigi has been in talks with parent club Onduparaka FC but also has offers from URA and Wakiso Giants.
Mbabazi has been named assistant coach to Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic, and will not be going to newly-promoted Arua Hills as earlier rumoured.
The departure of the pair leaves club president Mwene Mpaka in a frantic search for an entire technical team with the future of goalkeeping coach Yusuf Ssenyonjo and fitness coach Tony Ssebwalunyo also not decided.
