Sheema Central police station Kabwohe is holding a heartless woman who dumped her own 4 days baby boy after getting a job in a abar.
Atumanya Winnie 28 years old hailing from Bwayegamba Parish in Kigarama Sub county who later got married to Obukuubo village in Kihunda Ward Sheema municipality was arrested by police yesterday accusing her for neglecting her parental responsibility by throwing her own baby into father’s in law compound at around 10Pm on 13th May 2021 and she opted for a bar attendant in Mpigi district.
“We have been hunting for her since then until yesterday when we landed on her, the baby is now 2½ months staying with his grandparents in Kihunda” OC CID Sheema ASP Akong Bibian
Robert Karegyeya the grand father of the baby told us that they were also shocked when they heard a baby crying in their compound and that after reaching there, they found a letter written in a red pen
“The letter was telling us that this is our child, she also left there birth certificate , so we picked up the baby and we started looking after him.
My son Jonan Atukwatse found this lady in a certain bar in Kihunda and he married her, after like 6 months, they separated,we didn’t know that she was even pregnant, our son was later imprisoned on cases of drug abuse, he has never come back” Karegyeya
Harriet Karegyeya the grandmother of the baby told us that it hasn’t been easy for her to look after the baby saying that at 72 years old, it hasn’t been easy for her to wash and feed a 4 days baby but she condemned the act which her daughter in law did.
Talking to Atumanya , she told us that she did this heartless action because her husband had threatened to kill her after giving birth and that she decided to go and look for money , she is now detained at Kabwohe police as investigations are going on.
