Museveni fulfills his computer pledge to Bwambara SS after 7 years.

Rukungiri–  The president of Uganda  H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has finally fulfilled his pledge of donating  40 computers  to Bwambara senior secondary school in Bwambara parish Bwambara sub-county in Rukungiri district, seven years since he made the offer.

The president who was campaigning for NRM flag bearer for the Rukungiri district woman member of Parliament during the 2018 by – election made a pledge of donating  computers in a bid to combat computer illiteracy in local schools across the country.

However, the pledge was not fulfilled until today when the 40 computers were delivered to the school administrators by the minister of Security Rtd Maj. Gen. Jim K Muhwezi.

While handing over the computers to the school administrators today 25th .April 2025, Minister Muhwezi highlighted the government’s commitment towards bettering education in Uganda.

” I want to thank the president for fulfilling his pledge. I therefore ask you to use the donated computers for development of your  school.” Minister Muhwezi said.

He also cautioned the school administrators against selling the donated computers but instead take care of them and allow every student to study computer for free.

” These computers are yours, the president will never take them away . So protect them and use them effectively such that they can last longer and be used by the coming generations” Minister Muhwezi added.

The school head teacher Ms . Tuhirirwe Justine hailed the government of Uganda under the leadership of President Museveni for having thought about  students of Bwambara secondary school.

” We shall jealously protect these computers. So Mr Minister take our gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ” Ms Tuhirirwe said.

The head teacher also hailed Minister Muhwezi for who followed up the pledge, saying that the school had challenges of limited resources and internet access.

”At last we are happy the president has finally fulfilled his pledge, but we had thought it was politics as usual, so  we are going to take good  care of these computers for the development of our school. Ms Tuhirirwe added.

The Bwambara sub- county LC3 chairperson Mr Christopher Kagayano,asked the school  administrators to use the donated computers towards the develpment of the school.

We are living in a computerlised world. Let these learners study computer. Where we are going the world is going digital and alot of work will be done through computer work. So I want the president for these computers which I think will greatly change our standards of living. Mr Kagayano said.

Ms Susan Nduhkihe, an” A ” student at Bwambara SSone  hailed the president saying that she will use the donated computers to develop her computer skills as it has been the school ‘s biggest challenge.

“Our school had a challenge of computers and our computer teacher would teach us theory and we are now going to study computers in full”

Mr Moses Mugabe, another Student at Bwambara SS expressed his  happiness saying that he has been struggling to study  computer as a lesson .

“Finally we are study computer lessons. It has been our dream to have computers in our school. Thanks to the president and Minister Muhwezi for this initiative. We very much humbled our president ” Mr Mugabe said.

This is not the first time  Rukungiri benefitting from the president at election time. In 2018 Rukungiri woman by- elections, the president also donated goods worth 5 billion shillings to the area.
