Police in Rukiga have arrested two individuals, Guston Asiimwe and Ruth Aharizira, for questioning in connection with the death of Martin Tumwekwase, a 40-year-old resident of Kasoni cell in Rwenyangi Parish, Kamwezi sub-county, Rukiga district.
The deceased was reportedly previously married to Ruth Aharizira, and following their separation, he resided in Kamwezi town center, while she rented in Omurutare Cell.
On the night of November 11, 2023, at approximately 21:00hrs, Tumwekwase was last seen with both suspects at Didas bar in the center. They left together, and by the following morning, he was discovered dead in his residence.
The police received information about the incident from Bonnie Tugumisirize, the area chairperson of Kasoni cell. The OC CID, DPC, and Regional SOCO responded to the scene, documented the evidence, and conducted necessary processing. A postmortem examination was carried out at Kamwezi Health Centre IV, leading to the subsequent arrest of the two suspects.
