Kampala, Uganda – Joel Ssenyonyi has officially taken the reins as the new Leader of Opposition in Parliament, pledging to be a relentless watchdog for Uganda’s citizens. In his maiden speech, Ssenyonyi laid out a clear mission: holding the government accountable and maximizing every shilling of taxpayer money.

“By God’s grace,” he declared, “I will execute that mandate effectively.” His voice resonated across the chamber, carrying the weight of both responsibility and the expectations of an electorate hungry for good governance.

Ssenyonyi isn’t just throwing punches for kicks. He sees accountability as a collective win-win, not a partisan brawl. “Keeping the government in check benefits all of us here and the people we represent,” he emphasized. “When we fight against corruption, ensure service delivery, and maximize the value of taxpayer money, it benefits everyone.”

This pragmatic approach signals a potential shift in the dynamic between the ruling party and the opposition. Instead of mere antagonism, Ssenyonyi appears to be offering a hand extended for the greater good.

He also took a moment to acknowledge the legacy of his predecessor, Mathias Mpuuga. “You led us under difficult circumstances, but you managed to remain composed and guide us through those trying times,” Ssenyonyi said, offering a graceful tribute. “I salute you, sir, and I am fortunate that we will continue working together.”
