In response to ongoing heavy rains and government warnings for residents in disaster-prone regions, such as wetlands and mountainous areas, the government is taking action to relocate people affected by landslides in the Mt Elgon area.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has revealed plans to resettle over 4,000 individuals from the region to safer locations. During an interview with NTV, Nabbanja also mentioned that the areas from which people are being relocated will be designated as forest reserves.
