Rukungiri – Ms Kyatuhaire Mary Tereeza 82 years and a resident of Rwerere town council is among the over 1000 residents of Rwerere town council, Nyakagyeme and Bugangari sub- counties all in Rukungiri district who received vital healthcare services through a free medical camp that was organized by German co-operative and Raiffesisen Confederation (DJRV) in collaboration with Kampala medical and Allied Health workers co-operative Society ( KAMACOS).
The medical camp took place at Rwerere Health 2 in Rwerere town council at Rwerere church of Uganda.The health camp attracted a diverse range of beneficiaries, including community leaders, the elderly, children, youth, and women.

The camp offered screenings for various health conditions such as diabetes, cancer, HIV/AIDS, antenatal services, malaria, hypertension, eye problems, blood pressure issues, and dental checks, among others.
Ms Komugisha Pamela, the project manager at DGRV a German based non government organization and the organizer of the free medical camp said DGRV in junction with KAMACOS organized this medical care with an intension of extending Medical care services nearer to the community and to create a moment of sharing with locals.
Ms Komugisha added that DGRV aims at improving the access of healthcare services and contributing to a healthier future for the people within Uganda.
She also highlighted the importance of Ugandans leading healthier lives saying that the medical camp is part of their daily activities as DGRV.

Mr prosper Tagobya,the other organizer of the free medical camp explained that offering free medical examinations, counseling services, and other health-related services can help people live longer by receiving proper medical attention.
Mr Tagobya encouraged residents to take advantage of such opportunities to assess their health status and seek treatment when needed.
Dr. Tushabe Ohurira , the Head of Medics at the medical camp said that average clients are from 40 and above saying of them were suffering from non- communicable diseases such as pressure, diabetes, ulcers and heart diseases that result from poor feeding, consumption of oily foods.
He added that such diseases are genetical and inheritable but they can only be prevented by doing regular exercises, changing eating habits, improving diet among others.
Jack Mugisha, 61 a resident of Rwerere town council praised the organizers for the initiative and expressed the need for more free health camps in the area, as many community members struggle to cover medical expenses.
Robert Mwebesa 45, who was diagnosed with blood pressure wants the free medical services in the community to be conducted on a monthly basis since most people are poor and cannot afford to treat themselves.
Roy Ampaire , 40, who has eye complications says the free medical camp was timely as most people are suffering from various ailments but could not afford to attain appropriate treatment due to lack of money.
What is DGRV?
DGRV is a German based non – governmental organization and it aims at creating a disease free environment where everyone is free to work for the development of his or her family.
