A resident of Busiika town council in Luwero district was Thursday killed by a stray bullet while Police enforced curfew, a government directive to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The deceased was identified as Ali Sewankambo.

The Police spokesperson of the Savannah region, Issa Semwogerere, said police officers from the nearby Busiika Police Station were firing in the air to disperse a crowd of residents who were not observing night curfew when a stray bullet hit Sewankambo.
He also revealed that another person identified as Livingstone Kayitwa was also hit by a stray bullet but survived and was admitted to a hospital.
Similar incidents
The incident comes barely a month after a similar one in July when police officers from the same police station fatally wounded a bodaboda operator at a nearby roadblock.
Semwogerere said the Thursday night shootout happened after an irate crowd of residents pelted stones at the policemen enforcing curfew.
He noted that one of the police officers who were on duty, whom he identified as David Ebong, had been arrested.
