Health Workers at Butiaba Health Center III in Butiaba town Council in Buliisa district have criticized lack of accommodation.
Butiaba Health Center has a workforce of 23 people sharing three rooms in only a single house, where a single room is shared by five workers.
As a result, some of the health workers have opted to rent in the neighbourhood yet they are supposed to sleep at the health facility. This affects their response time to emergency cases at the facility.
Moses Kaahwa, the in-charge of Butiaba Health Center III describes the situation at the facility as appalling, since the staff privacy is always compromised.
Kaahwa, the Health Center in charge also says that the current facility where they are operating from is also at the verge of being submerged by floods.
Dr. Nelson Naisye, the Buliisa District Health Officer-DHO confirms the health workers’ ordeal, adding that his office has already forwarded the matter to the Health Ministry for consideration.
The health center receives 200 patients on average each day including some who come from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
