Residents of Kigarama and Masheruka sub counties in Sheema district yesterday staged a demonstration by walking about 30Km around the two sub counties accusing president Museveni for abandon them in his ministerial selection.
The angry residents who were holding hoes, posts and other items, Said that they aren’t happy with president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for not appointing any minister from Sheema district especially Hon Jacklet Atuhaire Rwabukurukuru their daughter saying that she lost elections because of him since she was busy carrying out investigations on ministry of energy mafias a thing that didn’t give her time to concentrate in the district to look for support, but that it is so disappointing to see him after leading to her downfall, instead of compensating her, he just ignored.
“President has dearly disappointing us especial we women, we formed groups which we nicknamed team Museveni, we could be facilitated by Jacklet and she could usually tell us that even if she loses and Museveni wins, we shall still benefit a thing that gave us much hpes that she was to get a juicy job in hover to keep supporting us, but now we regret the time we spent jumping streams, walking in wild looking for Musevin’s support, it’s a total shame” Natukunda Millian
They told us that in case President Museveni doesn’t take action on their issues, they are ready to cross from NRM party to other parties where others told us that they had joined NRM because their daughter Jacklet after seeing her moving with president.
“I wasn’t only a staurch FDC supporter but also a party mobilisation secretary in the constituency, i joined NRM party after a secret talk with her, she told me to take for her 50 strong FDC supporters whom she met at her home in the morning and they all agreed to support her and NRM, we voted Museveni because of whom he has dumped, I therefore tell you, we are just waiting for Jacklet to tell us the last word, whether we leave NRM for good or stay” Elias Kahangye
They also appealed to president Museveni that if he doesn’t want to consider them in this government, he should send someone to continue with projects like shoe making, hand bag making and mushroom farming projects which Hon Jacklet had initiated in their area saying that their produces have no market
“now look at the hand bags and our mushrooms,we have them here in large quantities but we don’t have the market, when we contacted Jacklet, she told us she will first seek for permission from the district chairperson and area MP to allow her and bring people to give us market, now we are wondering but if they don’t allow her to bring them, but if she was appointed in any office, she would have come in that capacity without first seeking for the permission” Annet Kabandize
Talking to Hon Jacklet on phone, she said that the residents surprised her saying that she also saw them on social media but that she wasn’t aware of the demonstration.
Sheema district history,in 2006 ,when Prof Elijah Dickens Mushemeza lost to Prof Ephraim Kamuntu, president Museveni appointed him (Mushemeza) as the NRM chairman electoral commission ,in 2011 when Prof Ephraim Kamuntu lost to Eng Katwiremu Yorakamu , he (Kamuntu) was appointed as the ambassador and later to Minister of Water, in 2016 when Eng Yorakamu Katwiremu lost to Prof Ephraim Kamuntu, president Museveni appointed him (Katwiremu) as the senior presidential advisor, this time when Prof Ephraim Kamuntu lost to prof Mushemeza, Kamuntu was appointed as senior presidential advisor and way back when Hon Rosemary Nyakikongoro lost to Hon Jacklet, she (Nyakikongoro) was appointed as the commissioner in the judiciary but when Jacklet lost to Nyakikongoro in 2021, she was left aside.
