Three hacked to death in Masaka, survivor in critical condition

Panga-wielding assailants have raided Ssetaala, Ssenya parish, in Kimaanya-Kabonera division in Masaka city, killing three people, and leaving one badly injured.

Muhammad Nsubuga, the Masaka Regional Police spokesperson, has confirmed the incident saying it occurred on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as Sulaiman Kakooza 56, Kizza Luswa, 50, and Dan Kiyimba, 38.

The assailants also attacked Ronald Ssebyoto,25, a son of the Ssetaala LC1 Chairman but he miraculously survived with serious injuries.

He was rushed to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital where he is receiving special attention.

He added that the unknown assailants have caused panic among  the residents but police will do whatever is in their powers to pursue the criminals.

He explained that the assailants use pangas and other blunt objects to kill innocent people. He noted that their motive is yet to be established because they do not take their victims’ property.

According to Paul Kole, the Masaka Regional Police Commander, they are to work together with other security agencies to avert crimes.

 

He appealed to the residents to remain calm as the police investigate the murders.
