Makerere University is set to devise interim modalities for students to continue paying their tuition.

This comes after the university management officially disengaged Zeenode Uganda Ltd on the continued use of the Academic Information Management Systems (AIMS) at Makerere University.

According to a communique to the students from Samuel Mugabi, the university’s director ICT, AIMS was switched off by Zeenode Uganda Ltd on Wednesday at 12am, making the https://student.mak.ac.ug portal currently inaccessible to the student community.

The university according to Mugabi has since introduced the Academic Information Management System (ACMIS) to replace AIMS.

“At present, good progress has been made towards the implementation of ACMIS. The director ICT support, Academic Registrar -ICT division and now college registrars and the Finance department teams, are going to continue working together in the next few weeks to get the system fully operational,” he told the students.

Management is currently engaging the university secretary and bursar in an urgent meeting to agree on modalities of enabling continued payments of tuition until ACMIS is fully up and running.

“We are also making efforts to enable the https://apply.mak.ac.ug portal in the next few days for prospective graduate students to continue making online applications for admission to the University,” Mugabi said.
