NAKASEKE – A furious mob in Nakaseke district has torched a vehicle suspected of transporting stolen cattle.

The incident happened in Bulyake village in Kasangombe Sub County in the wee hours of yesterday morning when a pickup truck registration number UAP 202S was transporting the meat of three cattle and five people on board.

Chaos started after thugs raided villages in Kapeeka Sub County on Saturday night, raided several animals  and reportedly slaughtered them and loaded them on a vehicle for transportation.

After getting tips about the raid, residents raised alarm in the wee hours yesterday morning, leading to a search of the vehicle, as some of the residents reported the theft at Kapeeka police station, who informed their colleague officers at Kasangombe and Nakaseke Police stations.

After the residents of Bulyake village had intercepted the vehicle, whose tyres were shot by police officers from Kasangombe Police Stations, Livingstone Gitta, Bulyake village Local Council 1 chairperson, said the suspected thugs abandoned the vehicle in the middle of the road, fleeing for their dear lives.

The development comes shortly after residents of Butuntumula Sub County in Luweero district reported the theft of more than 50 cows in a space of one month.
