The party says the government introduced a non-starter project and it only benefits a few people but not the majority that it’s intended to benefit
Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has called for the renaming of the Emyooga initiative.
The political party argues that the program is being frustrated by the bad name.

During party weekly briefing at the party head offices in Najjankumbi, Harold Kaija, the deputy secretary-general said just like in literature, the title of the book must be appealing.
“A book with a bad title cannot sell it and this applies to Emyooga because most people don’t know what it means,” he said.
Kaija said the government introduced a non-starter project and it only benefits a few people but not the majority that it’s intended to benefit.
“If you divide the sh30m given to all SACCO members, it means each of them will get sh50,000. Where on earth can someone get rich with sh50,000?” he asked.
Kaija claimed that the initiative is a political tool but not a poverty alleviation program.
He appealed to the Members of Parliament to challenge the government to have a masterplan for the development of the people through Emyooga.
Two weeks ago, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among suspended the House for seven days to allow MPs to investigate the implementation of the Emyooga funds.
The government allocated sh260b to the Uganda Microfinance Support Centre which was distributed all over the country.
