Kampala – On 12th March 2021, Mr Mubiru  James was arrested brutally by the Uganda police military forces doned in black civilian attires holding AK47 according to pictures that showered on social media on offences of wearing a red beret which they claimed it’s a military attire.

Mr Mubiru James Is the lord councillor elect for Lubaga North 1 in Lubaga Division who didn’t swear in because he was under incarceration and the national unity platform (NUP) coordinator for Lubaga Division.

By Early March, Mr Mubiru James was announced dead and later found alive but detained in Makindye military barracks prison, a prison for military people only.

Hon Mubiru James wrote to the National unity platform (NUP) top leadership, his supporters, his family members, and several law and activists NGO’ s to come out for his help or support due to the condition he’s in.

In his letter, Hon Mubiru James who is the the National unity platform (NUP) elect lord councillor for Lubaga North 1 and the party coordinator for Lubaga Division thanked everyone for contributing towards the fight for justice and freedom and called upon everyone to help him out in legal means of getting justice for him and press the general court martial to avail him a bail or if that failed to pressurize the military court martial atleast transfer him to a civilian prison because it’ s unfair to arrest a civilian like him in a military prison yet he’ s not a security personnel and to make matters worse, he was isolated in a special dark room from when he was arrested up to when he wrote the letter

” Greetings to all Comrades in the struggle and Thanks for all endevours you contribute to front Justice and Freedom in the land.

I call upon everyone to intervene and do the possible legal means to appeal to the General Court Martial to avail me court bail. Incase this is not achieved I pray to be remanded to a civilian Prison from a Military prison where I was remanded on 23rd March 2021 and they isolated me in a special room for 24 hours since then to date. ” Hon Mubiru James wrote in the letter

Hon Mubiru James also added that all that happened when he was kidnapped early march and was first transfered to the Mbuya chief military intelligence (CMI) offices where he was beaten almost to death and was left mered with wounds and injuries but due to the public pressure, he was presented to the general court martial which remanded him to the near makindye military barracks prison over charging him of wearing military attires.

” This happened after the CMI had kidnapped me on 12/03/2021 and I was taken to it’ s Headquartes in Mbuya where they beaten and tortured me to almost to death line.

By God’ s grace after the CMI experienced POLITICAL pressure from the public demanding me live or dead, I was presented to the the General Court Martial which remanded me to Makindye Military barracks Prison over charges of wearing Military uniform” Hon Mubiru James added

Mr James Mubiru concluded by asserting that his wish for atleast detaining him in a civilian court is that where he is currently, he has been denied access to his family members, lawyers and friends and hence his human rights being violated. Another reason for this is that all his body is full of aches, injuries, wounds and weaknesses due to the random beatings and tortures he’ s getting almost on a daily basis while at the military incarceration and he called upon everyone to help him meet his wishes positively.

” My prayer for court bail or remand to a civilian Prison comes due to denial of access and communication to my family, lawyers and personal doctors. Each day my body experiences weakness and illness from complicated diseases that were caused by beatings and torture while at CMI.

I call upon everyone who can help me in the above and I shall be glad for your positive response towards it” Hon Mubiru James Concluded in his letter

Hon Mubiru James is among the National unity platform (NUP) who have suffered alot of arrests and tortures and it should be noted that he was in prison when he was being elected to the Lord councillor office on 20th January 2021.

The National unity platform (NUP) legal team has been taking several means of securing his release but all in vain.
