RUBIRIZI: The David Katureebe Foundation is facilitating a scholarship scheme to cater for most vulnerable children in Bunyaruguru, Rubirizi District.

This is aimed at giving an opportunity to children from humble background to access education who would perhaps miss or their school calender disrupted for failure to get school fees. This will also enable such families give priority to other children who would maybe miss the chance to study because the family is concentrating on the older siblings.

Therefore, for this first batch DKF has paid for 29 students from secondary already at school and 1 from institution waiting to start very soon and selecting 5 from each of the 5 sub counties and 1 Town Council of Bunyaruguru.

1 student at Spice Institute, 17 students at St. Michael High school, 7 at Ryeru seed school, 3 at Ndekye Secondary school, and 2 students at Rutoto Secondary school. And sofar 29 are already at school studying.

This being the first batch of the program, there was less publicity to have the program for open application, therefore the students were recommended by the local leaders in consideration of their family status and also from their respect schools regarding their school fees payment challenges.

In this endeavour to help needy students get a chance to fulfill their academic dreams, David Katureebe Foundation decided to begin with the High School Level and with prospects of extending the scheme to University and other tertiary institutions in the future.
