KAMPALA – Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has denied those who have ever received more than 500,000 Uganda Shillings through Mobile Money, a chance of getting COVID-19 relief stipend.
Nabbanja said this yesterday, revealing that they will be cross- checking with Telecom companies and anyone who has ever received sh500,000 and above through mobile money services will not be considered as vulnerable.
However, Nabbanja says the government is considering a number of other mechanisms to help the citizens.

Following the Friday’s presidential address, that announced a 42-day national lockdown, banning public and private transport, among others, in a bid to slow down COVID-19 infections, that, therefore, means some people are likely to become financially constrained as they either cannot get a means of transport to work or their workplaces are now shut.
To ease the pain, the national COVID-19 task force met on Sunday and recommended cash instead of giving food support, as was the case in last year’s lock-down to such a category of people.
Today, the meeting is expected to make the final decision on the final formula of picking beneficiaries and how much each will be receiving from the government.
