Rukungiri – The 2024/ 25 graduates of Kakonkoma garage training institute were yesterday urged to use the imparted skills acquired from the school to start their own income generating projects other than being on streets looking for jobs.
Speaking as the guest of honor at the institute’s Second graduation ceremony that took place in the Rukungiri district main stadium, the Rukungiri municipal council aspirant Mayor Boaz Kasiime Matita told the graduates that through starting such projects the skills which they acquired while schooling won’t be misused saying that it will very disappointing to find one of them moving from door to door looking for jobs or is engaged in unlawful acts that will tarnish the school’s name in public.
He also urged the parents to continue educating their children despite of unemployment problem saying that an educated children will never look like uneducated one.
The aspirant Mayor used the event’s platform and advised graduates to go for further education saying that a certificate is nothing in the world of jobs that is full of competition.
The institute director Mr Ronald Kyarimpa a.k.a Kakonkoma told the graduates to work harder, work towards achieving their dreams saying that this will help them to fit in this competitive world of job market.
The director also hailed parents for supporting the education of their children .
He however asked the government to provide more materials and equipment to support their training activities, noting that a shortage of equipments limits their practical work and capacity building.
The function was also blessed by the Rukungiri district 3rd deputy RDC Ms Kallen Kagisha who asked the Ugandans to embrace technical education as the only way to solve the increasing levels of unemployment in Uganda.
Some of the graduates whom we talked with hailed their lectures for their great work they did while teaching them promising to put into order what they were taught as a way of surviving the competition in the job market.
A total of 40 students graduated in driving, mechanics among others.
