Residents of Lwampagi village in Gayaza ward, Kasaali town council, Kyotera district, were surprised when they found the body of a local man who had been missing for two weeks. Ssalongo Hassan Kalema Zabasajja, aged 47, was discovered hanging in his own house following a two-week search by the community.
Zabasajja’s body was found by a passing student on their way to school, who noticed a foul odor emanating from the house and promptly informed the locals.
One resident stated, “I last saw Zabasajja two weeks ago when he was returning from Kisuula, and since then, I hadn’t heard from him until his body was discovered in his house.”

Community members revealed that the deceased had expressed intentions to take his own life due to overwhelming problems. They expressed shock and condemned the act of self-harm by hanging, which they had never encountered in their area before.
Isaac Musoke, the chairperson of Lwampagi village, encouraged residents to share their difficulties with others to seek solutions instead of resorting to self-harm.
