National Unity Platform Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine slammed the state for declining to provide party supporters bail following their two years of incarceration.

” The army court declined to consent bail to a faction of 32 NUP proponents who were arrested in 2020 and early 2021. In incarceration for close to 2 years for backing me and NUP! The prosecution has not even commenced! Withstand by anger, the families congregated outside the court and wept! ” Bobi Wine tweeted.

Bobi Wine further says that all state efforts to make people cry will instead backfire on them.

” Yes, I understand the government bitterly needs to see our citizens weeping, but there is a God in heaven. At the spin of the clock, Ugandans will retain the ultimate laugh. I am convinced that there will be justice for the casualties of all this injustice and impunity! ” Bobi Wine added.

Meanwhile, thirty- one NUP proponents were reportedly denied bail by the Makindye general court- martial which initiated a somber mood around the premises.

The faction was apprehended in Kalangala District while on presidential aspirant Bobi Wine’ s campaign trail.

Meanwhile, they encounter charges of possessing illegal ammunition, adverse to Section 3 (1) and (2) of the Firearms Act.

The Court Martial presided over by Brig Gen Freeman Mugabe refused to consent the accused individuals to bail, pending the hearing of their prosecution, figuring out that the sureties are not considerable, applicants did not ascertain that they have fixed areas of residence and the crimes against them are severe.

” Accordingly, this court refuses to consent to bail to the applicants and the petition is hereby dismissed. Court decrees an expeditious case of the applicants in the major prosecution, ” Brig Gen Mugabe decreed.

Promptly after Brig Gen Mugabe proclaimed his ruling, the entirely crowded court started mumbling while some family members began weeping, asserting that their kids were being witch-hunted.

” How can the court decree that we cannot stand sureties for our kids yet we are denizens and possess our residences? President Yoweri Museveni’s son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba explained that only one statement and he appeared on his behalf to apologize. How about our children? ” Justine Nakabango, a mum to one of the suspects explained.

” We are exhausted of begging; we shall not apologize because our kids did not execute anything. If they need them; let them take them, we have provided them to you, ” another relative screamed.

Meanwhile, some of the reasons that the faction had put forward through their counsel, George Musisi, for contemplation for their release comprise possessing a constitutional right to pertain for bail, being prepared to endure by the release terms, the offense being bailable, and possessing considerable sureties.
