Police in Nansana is holding a woman identified as Annet Kiiza for allegedly kidnapping her son Dan Male.
According to police preliminary investigations, Kiiza conspired with her sister Annet Tumusiime to kidnap her four-year-old son to demand a ransom of sh32million from her husband, Denis Sebulime.
“Initially, we were told that the boy had been kidnapped while playing with other children. But we later established that the mother was behind the whole move,” the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, noted.
“They asked Sebulime to pay the sh32m threatening to cut the child into pieces if he failed to do pay,” he said.
Enanga was addressing journalists during the Police weekly media briefing on Monday at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.
Enanga also noted that the two women had been arrested.
He appealed to women to find better ways of getting money from their husbands, other than engaging in criminal acts which he said were embarrassing.
