A section of Special Police Constables (SPCs) who worked in the January 2021 presidential and parliamentary elections have petitioned the Kajara county Member of parliament, Timuzigu Michael Kamugisha, accusing police authorities in Ntungamo district of retaining their payments even after others had been fully paid.

Over 80 constables are among the at least 900 recruited to boost police security during the presidential, parliamentary and local council elections by especially manning polling station security.

These SPCs including George Munanura a SPC from Rweikiniro Sub County and Lauren Niwandinda say they received payments of January and February, but that of March has been withheld, as they are tossed from police multiple times that they are not on the list.

Timuzigu, who addressed the constables at Ntungamo police station, asked them to keep calm as he investigates the situation.

The Ntungamo district police commander Geoffrey Orochi however notes that the constables not paid were deleted from the payroll over non compliance with the regulations.
