Rukungiri – A ugx 300 community bridge has been commissioned in Bugangari sub- county Rukungiri district.
The commissioned community bridge was constructed at a tune of Shs.300 Million and it was constructed by Chico Construction Company .

The commissioned bridge is a major connection to Bwambara sub-county and Bikunguru town council which are well known for rice and coffee production in Rukungiri district.
The bridge is also a critical link to Nyakagyeme sub- County and Rwerere town council all in Rukungiri district.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of this bridge which took place at the bridge in Bugangari sub- county in Rukungiri district yesterday 6th.October 2025, the Rujumbura county Member of Parliament who doubles as the minister of security Rtd.Maj.Gen. Jim K Muhwezi asked the residents of Bugangari sub- County to use the bridge for the development of their families.
‘’ This bridge is very important. Kindly use this bridge and transport your coffee, bananas and other products to market centers” Minister Muhwezi said.
He also asked the residents of Bugangari Sub County to embrace government programs like Parish Development Model (PDM) and utilize the bridge once completed to boost their household income.
‘’ The government has introduced this program for your development. I therefore ask to embrace and in so doing you will be fighting poverty’’. Minster Muhwezi added.
Speaking at the same function, the Rukungiri district chairperson Mr Geoffery Kyomukama commended the government of Uganda for funding this project which is so vital in driving social and economic transformation of the area.
” I want to congulate, the people of Bugangari sub- county upon this milestone. I know you have struggled for what is enough but finally the government has remembered you and worked on your bridge which will spearhead development “. Mr Kyomukama said.
The Bugangari sub- county lc3 chairperson Mr Justone Byamukama hailed the government of Uganda for the constructed bridge.
This bridge is going to quicken the movement of mothers who need antenatal care since the area lacks proper connection to areas of Bugangari health 4″ . Mr Byamukama noted.
The chairperson added ‘’ This is a great relief to us as the people of Bugangari sub-county. This bridge was washed away by floods about 3 years ago so we thank the government of Uganda and our area member of parliament Rtd.Maj.Gen Jim K Muhwezi for this contribution’’ Mr Byamukama said.

Mr Moses Tugume 56, a resident of Kakindo Parish shared a heartfelt ordeal, “for about 3 years, we were living in a stressful environment due to a lack of a comfortable bridge at the spot, paralyzing social and economic development in the area.”
He commended the government for coming up with this development saying that the construction of this bridge will greatly improve the standards of living in the area.
Ms Scovia Orishaba 46 and resident of Bugangari sub- County thanked the government of Uganda for thinking about them as local people saying that they have been struggling to access Bwambara sub- County for rice business.
“I do business using a boda boda, but I would spend between Shs10, 000 and Shs15, 000 to go to Bwambara sub-county for rice. The construction of this bridge will greatly reduce transport costs’’ Ms Orishaba said.
Mr Innocent Turyahabwe, another resident of Bugangari sub- county said ‘’ children have been struggling to access education services at Kakindo primary school so the construction of this bridge will ease their movement to and from school’’.
