Kasese- Police in Kasese (Rwenzori East) has arrested a man in his 40’s for allegedly chopping off wife’s hands.
The development was confirmed by the Rwenzori East Police community liaison officer SP Luke Mbusa identifying the suspect as Hassan Kadogo Ngobi adding the act happened took place few days back and it rose from domestic violence in which the suspect has been accusing his wife of cheating on him.
Mbusa also identified the victim as Esther Mbambu who is apparently nursing wounds at Mt St Mary’s Hospital in Kasese adding that the victim is also a market vendor in Sauliyako Market in Kasese town.

” Both Kadogo and Mbambu are residents of Nyakasonjo Lower, Bulembia Division in Kasese Municipality” SP Mbusa said.
Ms Justin Mulhuba, who is taking of Mbambu in hospital, said she found her in a pool of blood and helpless along her home with her bag containing money and phone.
“ The doctors are doing their best to save her life but the situation is worrying so we need your prayers ”. Ms Mulhuba said.
Sister Suzan Kabugho, an administrator at Mt St Marys’ Hospital, , said the victim was received at the facility with wounds on her head and other body parts.
SP Mbusa condemned the act and appealed to the public to always reach out to police whenever they fail to resolve a misunderstanding.
“Always follow right channels when ever you develop misunderstandings instead of harming yourselves and taking laws in your hands”. Sp Mbusa advised.
This is the second such incident within this week after a retired police officer identified as Sipiriano Kyakwaire, 65, was taken into custody for reportedly attacking and fatally stabbing his 50-year-old wife Night Masika at their home in Kakone I village of Nyakiyumbu sub-county on March 17, 2025.
