The National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine has spoken out about reports of talks and dialogue with the government of President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.

Recently, especially after the release of NUP MPs Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West and Muhammad Ssegirinya of Kawempe North, discussions have Allegedly taken place between senior leaders of the NUP and the government.

But Bobi Wine used the Kunga convention in Kampala on 23 February 2023 to inform the main opposition party’s position on negotiations and dialogue with Museveni’s government. The singer and politician also warned her party leaders not to compete for office.

“We shall not be part of any dialogues with Museveni because all that Museveni wants is to use us like wheelbarrows and we are not wheelbarrows,” Bobi Wine Said

“Friends, we must not be seen as people that are in a fight for potions of leadership. We must be seen to fight for a bigger cause.” He Added

He also defended the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament (LoP) Mathias Mpuuga, saying that the allegations against the MP of Nyendo-Mukungwe are baseless and will be treated as propaganda until there is incriminating evidence against the leader of the Opposition.

“I have spoken to the Leader of Opposition, Hon Mathias Mpuuga, about the allegations and he has trashed them. Until concrete evidence for the same is provided, we shall still consider that as regime propaganda,” Bobi Wine Continued

“If you have evidence that one of our leaders or comrades is working for the enemy, please bring it to us the leaders.” Bobi Wine Added

He also had a message for Museveni, telling him he may have been duped by people who claim to be negotiating on behalf of the NUP..

“Our two MPs and hundreds of other political prisoners are innocent. They were illegally detained. If anyone took part in any talks with Museveni, it was not of our knowledge or endorsement. If promises were made those are fake promises,” He Noted

“To you Mr. Museveni, if anybody spoke to you claiming to represent NUP, you were conned.” Bobi Wine Ranted

Recall that the Daily Monitor recently apologized to LoP Mpuuga for an article in which the publication alleging that the NUP boss had a dialogue with a Museveni agent.
