Missing Rukungiri man, Discovered dead in swamp

Police in Rukungiri Police station have finally recovered the body of Mutabazi Sulaiman 57 years who went missing following misunderstandings with a witch doctor Sulaiman Mugisha.

The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate told our reporter that the body of the deceased was recovered late on the 28/04/2022 from Rweshama swamp by police led by Mugisha Sulaiman the main suspect.

Mutabazi went missing on the 19th of April 2022 when he had allegedly gone to visit Sulaiman Mugisha of Rwebinyonyi village whom he has been running to for spiritual help.
Residents claim that they have always seen the two smoking pipes together near the murram road that leads to the landing site.

It is alleged that on a fateful day at around 2030 hours, the victim was seen entering the compound of Mugisha but after a few minutes, the two were heard quarrelling on grounds that Mutabazi had spent a lot of money but never got a solution to his problems.

Maate told our reporter that Mugisha’s neighbours allege that at around 0200 hours on the 20th of April 2022, they heard two motorcycles leaving his compound.

On 19/04/2022 at around 2030hrs, the victim was seen entering the same place with his motorcycle and later was heard complaining and quarrelling with Mugisha about the money he had spent but no solution to his increasing problems.

At around 0200hrs of 20/04/2022, two m/cycles were heard leaving that home and since then, the victim disappeared.

On 24/04/2022, one Kakuru Buseni reported the disappearance of the father at Rwenshama Police station and Cps Rukungiri was accordingly notified.

A team headed by the OC Station one IP Muhairwe Elias moved on the ground and Mugisha Sulaiman the main suspect plus his other family members namely; Kesande Shadia aged 25 years, Kyomugisha Emily aged 17 years, Barisigara Silvan aged 32 years and Mugisha Ramadhan aged 17 years all of Rwebinyonyi village were arrested as they tried to flee the village.

On interrogations, the actual whereabouts of the victim were revealed, the scene was visited, the body was retrieved and was taken to Rwakabengo health centre 3 for postmortem.
