Minor Fire at Speke Resort Hotel Causes Little Disruption to Operations

Speke Resort Hotel, one of Uganda’s premier hotels located in Munyonyo, experienced a minor fire incident on Friday at around 3pm. The fire broke out at the staff entrance and exit point, which was later confirmed to have been caused by a contractor working on the hotel’s ongoing building extension.

According to a statement released by one of the hotel’s managers, the fire was contained quickly and did not cause any significant disruption to the hotel’s daily operations. The statement also noted that no injuries were reported.

“The fire at Speke Resort Hotel was caused by a contractor working on the building extension. Fortunately, the fire was minor and did not affect the daily operations of the hotel. No one was injured in the incident,” the statement read.

The local police’s Fire Brigade arrived at the scene promptly and managed to put out the flames. As of Saturday, the police had not released any official statement regarding the incident.

The hotel management also assured the public that the situation was under control and that they were taking necessary measures to ensure the safety of their guests and staff.

“We want to reassure our guests and the public that the situation is under control, and we are taking all necessary measures to ensure their safety. We would like to thank the police’s Fire Brigade for their prompt response and quick action to put out the fire,” the statement continued.
