MBARARA:

In recent days, there has been a high increase rate of poor sanitation in Mbarara central market. And this might lead to many disease outbreaks like cholera and Ebola even.

When you reach this market, it’s the mismanaged wastes that welcome you. And this is largely due inadequacy of dustbins.

According to some vendors In this market, talking to The Ankole Times, like Mr Donozio Kibanda, he says that the bins are few and even when they full the city council comes late for picking like after three days, the activity that should be done thrice a day.

“And even now some vendors use polythene bags and buckets for the short calls because the charges for using the City toilet is also seeming to be high at 300shs., and when they help themselves, they dump them Infront of our shops which is deadly to our lives” he added.

Kibanda says unless City council allows traders to access the toilets free of charge, they will continue finding a cheaper means of easing themselves.

So the public is calling upon the intervention of city authorities to come in this sanitation matter of the Mbarara regional central market.
