Rukungiri – The National Resistance movement NRM party candidate for Rukungiri municipal council mayoral race Mr Boaz Kansiime Matita has won the Rukungiri municipal mayoral seat with 5,759 votes defeating his strongest opponent Mr Denis Ngabirano of PFF party who has polled 5,126 votes.
This is according to the results released by Mr Abas K Namara, the returning officer of Rukungiri district electoral area.
The win of Mr Matita of NRM party brings to an end the 15 year long time rule of opposition since the Municipality has been in the hands of opposition.
