Police responded to the demonstrations by shooting live bullets into the air, throwing tear gas canisters to protesters and arresting some of the demonstrators.

Kenyan taskforce imposed a nationwide curfew from 22:00 until 04:00 local time until July 27 as a measure to combat COVID-19.

Internal travel to parts of western Kenya has also been halted until at least July 27 while public gatherings are currently prohibited.
