Rukungiri– As way of promoting the well being and education and of a girl child, the Alumni of Kashenyi Secondary school under their umbrella body Kashenyi old students Association ( KSSOSA) yesterday 11th.10.2025 donated 203 bags of cement to support the construction of a girls dormitory.

The colorful function took place at the school grounds in Ruhinda sub- county Rukungiri district.

The old students led by their representative on the school board, Ms Clara Aheebwa said the initiative by the alumni is aiming at promoting the well being and education of a girl child adding that the initiative also aims at improving the school’s infrastructure.

‘’Our dream has been fulfilled that we’re back home because we’re what we’re because of this school. We resolved to solicit tangible assistance to the school after a meeting with the school administration in which we were told the school was planning to construct a girls dormitory. And towards that cause we have managed to bring 203 bags of cement as a donation to the school after soliciting it amongst ourselves,” Ms Aheebwa said.

Ms Aheebwa commended the alumni for their contribution and called upon OBs and OGs of other schools to emulate their example as a way of inspiring the learners in their respective former schools right from the primary.

“We call upon all OBs and OGs of various schools right from primary to value and support their schools by forming associations which will inspire some learners. I want to also tell the students that patience is key and everything has its own time, so I call upon you to have role models who will inspire you to work harder academically,” Ms Aheebwa added.

She also advised parents to educate their children saying that education is a key that unlocks all world problems.

Mr Mwesigye Fred , a committee member in charge of education said there is a need to keep close to each other as alumni since it promotes unity and access to opportunities and support from one another.

He said a number of reputable persons went through the school and he called upon other OBs and OGs of the school to support the cause.

“We call upon our colleagues who were not with us on this course to come and join us because we all passed in this school to get where we are. We also need to be united and keep things moving, I may be having a bigger demand than the other but we can help one another if we’re together,” Mr Mwesigye said.

The school head teacher Rev. Ivan Mwongyera commended the school alumni for their support towards uplifting the face of the school and encouraged them to continue supporting the school.

‘’We can’t thank you enough but we only ask God to reward you more because this donation can’t be taken for granted. It is on this point that I want to commit myself that we shall use the donated cement for its intended purpose’’ Rev Mwongyera vowed.

He added as a school they have tried to maintain good academic performance ever since they entered the field of education, something he said has seen a number of successful people produced by the school.

The chairperson of Parents Teachers Association ( PTA), Mr Davis Mutabanura applauded the OBs and OGs of the school for the good decision of remembering their school.
