Police arrested a private security guard, who reportedly shot and killed his colleague while allegedly foiling a robbery Saturday night.
Suspect Henry Otim was attached to Redarted Security Company, a private firm, according to the acting Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire.
He said investigations were launched after Otim reportedly shot at his colleague, David Okwanga, while thwarting a robbery.
The fatal shooting happened at 2:2am at Namugongo Estates in Kiira Division, preliminary findings reveal.
Otim and Okwanga were on duty at the time at two different points. They were then reportedly attacked by four thugs.
“So while trying to repulse them (thugs), Otim fired at his colleague allegedly unknowingly,’ said Owoyesigyire.
Okwanga was pronounced dead by medics upon arrival at a health facility. Otim, the suspect, was arrested.
