First ever ambulance excites Rubabo residents.

Rukungiri– Expectant Mothers, old and young people who have been facing difficulties while accessing health services in the rural areas of Rukungiri district are celebrating following the arrival of  2  brand-new ambulances from a well wisher Hon. David Tushabomwe Ndindi.

The ambulances  worth millions are expected to improve health care services in the  sub- counties of  Nyarushanje, Buyanja, Kebisoni ,Nyakishenyi , Buyanja and Kebisoni town councils all in Rukungiri district and people from the neighboring districts of Rukiga and Kanungu.

“We have been facing a big challenge of accessing health services in Rubabo county but the new ambulance is a big boost, especially to us expectant mothers and other critically ill people,” said Ms Jackline Turyamuhaki a resident of Nyakishenyi sub- county said.

Ms Annet Kyampaire  66, a mother of 5 , a resident of Buyanja Town council said the ambulances will improve the referral process for medical emergencies.

‘’ We are happy for these ambulances because as women we have facing alot of challenges, especially when it comes at a time of giving birth so we thank Mr  Tushabomwe for thinking about us ( rural women) ‘’. Ms Kyampaire said.

 Mr Bernard Kamugisha, another resident of Nyarushanje sub-county  expressed gratitude for the donated ambulances and explained that the sub- county had a poor referral system due to lack of ambulance.

‘’ We are very grateful for this ambulance but it’s very unfortunate that last year we lost the lives of 2 mothers due to lack of an ambulance. One died after delivering on the way  because of over-breeding and another one died as we waited for ambulance’’ Mr Kamugisha said.

The Nyarushanje sub- county Chairperson Mr Musiime Micheal  expressed gratitude for the donated ambulances, stating that they will address the challenge of transporting patients on a referral system.

‘’ I want to thank Mr Tushabomwe for  these ambulances because it has been our challenge as sub-County. So for sure we are so grateful for this donation, our rural women are now relieved ” . Mr Musiime said 

Speaking at the Ambulance handover ceremony that took place at Nyarushanje sub-county headquarters over the weekend Mr Tushabomwe David Ndindi said the donated ambulances mark an important milestone in the district’s development in terms of health.

, “This is going to change the lives of our mothers who have been trekking long distances to deliver at the health facilities and it will greatly improve maternal health in the district, Mr Tushabomwe said.

Mr Tushabomwe added “These ambulances  are intending to serve the vulnerable communities to access health services and should not be diverted to useless issues like transporting business goods and it is free of charge so anyone caught charging money for an ambulance will be arrested and ruined into courts of law and face charges accordingly.

Hon David Tushabomwe Ndindi is a Ugandan politician born from Nyarushanje sub-county Rubabo county in Rukungiri district.
