The General Court Martial (GCM) at Makindye in Kampala has charged and remanded renowned court bailiff, Moses Kirunda, to Kitalya Government Prison.

Kirunda was Tuesday, charged with one count of murder contrary to Sections 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 120.

He was charged alongside Maj. Nelson Marks Kyatuuka and they will face death if convicted of the charge.

The GCM Chairman, Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti read charges to the duo. They all denied having committed the offence.

‘This court has entered a plea of not guilty for you Kyatuuka and Kirunda, you are therefore remanded to Makindye Military Quarter Guard and Kitalya Prison, respectively,’ Gutti said as he adjourned the case to November 4, 2021.

Prosecution led by Captain Ambroz Guma alleges that Kyatuuka, Kirunda and others still at large, on or around July 14, 2021 while at Lungujja, Rubaga division in Kampala district with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the death of Majidu Mugwanya.

Lawyer Robert Matovu represented the accused.

The duo was tracked and arrested by officers, attached to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Police.
