An agricultural field extension officer in Agago district has come under fire for allegedly falsifying accountability documents to secure funding for a tree-planting group.

Felix Okidi, who is attached to Mura parish in Wol Sub County is reported to have taken pictures of a teak tree plantation with the intention of getting financial support for the tree planting group.

According to the LC  5 representing Lira Kato Sub County, Alexanda Okidi, the matter came to the limelight after the owner of the teak tree plantation identified as Denis Makmot sought the intervention of the district leaders over trespass on his property.

Okidi says Makmot, who is also the village LCI Chairperson for Juba Cell in Guda ward, Wol Town Council alleges that Felix Okidi reportedly took pictures of his teak tree species under unclear circumstances, without his consent.

Denis Maktot says when he demanded an explanation from the extension worker, he did not give him a satisfactory explanation prompting him to forward the matter to the district leaders.

Makmot suspects that Okidi, who is overseeing the Project for Restoration of Livelihood in Northern Uganda (PRELNOR) project wants to present accountability to secure sh21m financial reward to Rwot-Dit tree planting Group in the neighbouring Kabala Juba village Mura parish in Wol Sub County

When contacted on the matter, Felix Okidi, the accused field extension officer declined to comment on the allegations, saying he is not entitled to talk to the press.

The Agago Chief Administrative Officer Stephen Oloya Gunya says his office has received the complaint noting that he has directed the District Natural Resource department to investigate the matter and report back to him.
