Bunyangabu:
The deceased Fahad Atuhaire, a resident of Kyaibumba village in Rwimi Town Council was found dead in police custody yesterday morning following his arrest on Saturday afternoon for unclear reasons.
One of the family members told our reporter that Atuhaire went missing on Saturday afternoon until yesterday morning when they got information that he was arrested by one Akugizibwe also known as Kabako, a prominent businessman in Rwimi Town Council.
Family sources allege that upon his arrest, Kabako severely assaulted him before handing him over to Rwimi Police Station from where he breathed his last.
Efforts by our reporter to get a comment from Kabako were futile as his known phone numbers were not available.
Rwenzori West police spokesperson, Vincent Twesige disclosed that when police was receiving Fahad, they observed that Kabaco had assaulted him though there were no visible signs of injury on his body. He confirmed the body of the deceased is currently lying at Fort portal Referral Mortuary.
Currently, police is deployed in Rwimi to deter possible revenge by the relatives and friends of Fahad.
