“Our joint Counter Terrorism teams, have put out of action an armed terrorist, in Kyebando, Kampala,” Enanga said.
Police on Monday evening confirmed they had killed a terror suspect arrested in connection with a planned attack at the home of the late former Deputy Inspector General of Police Lt. Gen Paul Lokech.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga noted that Hamid Nsubuga was killed after he turned violent during attempts to have him arrested by police in Kyebando.

‘Our joint Counter Terrorism teams, have put out of action an armed terrorist, in Kyebando, Kampala, who turned violent during attempts to have him arrested,’ Enanga said.

Enanga said Nsubuga was the, ‘supposed suicide bomber who escaped from Pader, after their plans to attack mourners at the Burial of the late Lt Gen Lokech were foiled by security.’

He said Nsubuga was countered while on an assassination mission whose details we can’t reveal.

‘A pistol, ammunition and other evidence of material value were recovered. We continue to maintain high levels of vigilance, as we strengthen our responses in countering all forms of terrorism.’

On August security forces arrested a suspected suicide bomber whom they said planned to detonate an improvised explosive device (IED) at the burial of Lt. Gen Lokech.

Abdul Katumba, alias Ben, was arrested and found with a suicide vest and other materials used in assembling an improvised explosive device (IED).

Nsubuga who was believed to have been part of the group was in charge of reconnaissance, escaped and the hunt for him has been on.

Security also arrested four suspects, all Muslim in Makindye-Ssabagabo municipality, Wakiso district in connection with the botched terror attack in Pader district who have since been charged with terror.
