Police in Rukungiri district is stuck with a body of an unidentified person that has since decomposed beyond recognition.
They have since appealed to the public with missing persons to check with them.
According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson, information of a body floating at Ahaibanga Kisizi falls power dam in Rukungiri district was first reported to them by one Poltazi Tumwekwatse, 30, an electrician at Kisizi hospital in Kamwobwa village.
“Tumwekwatse had gone to carry out maintenance works at Ahaibanga Kisizi falls power dam when he found an unidentified decomposed body of a male adult floating on water,” Maate said.
He however said the body which was retrieved from water, had decomposed beyond recognition. It has since been taken to Rwakabengo Health centre III, pending identification and postmortem.
“Anybody missing his/her dear one, can visit Rwakabengo health centre mortuary for identification so that is taken for a decent burial,” Maate said.
