The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Hoima area office, working hand in hand with the Uganda Police Force, on Sunday arrested a suspect who was allegedly found stealing five water meters.
In a statement, NWSC noted that upon questioning, the suspect led them to a scrap dealer in Hoima town. “Here, we recovered 10’s of meters,’ the statement read.
“It is believed that the scrap dealers melt the meters and use the precious coating on them for fabrication works,” NWSC said.
NWSC urged the public to report any suspected meter theft cases at the nearest Police Station or contact the nearest NWSC office.
