The Commissioner General of Prisons Dr. Johnson Byabashaija has directed all Regional Prisons Commanders (RPCs) and Officers in Charge of Prisons to be more strict in enforcing Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent officers and inmates from getting infected.

In a circular dated 7th June 2021, the Commissioner General ordered that regardless of whether one has a covid-19 testing or vaccination certificate or not, no visitor will be allowed to access any of the prisons in the country.
