Guitarist and jazz artist Myko Ouma held his inaugural Jazz Affair concert at the Kampala Serena Hotel on October 6, 2023. Ouma had expressed doubts about the turnout for his concert, given his reputation for playing as a backup musician for other artists.
During the event, Ouma was pleasantly surprised to see notable guests and fellow musicians, including Bebe Cool, Mesach Semakula, and A Pass in attendance. Their support provided him with a boost of confidence.
Ouma shared his thoughts after the performance, saying, “When I received support from the attending artists, it gave me strength and confidence. I was pleased to witness people coming to the Serena Hotel to support me in my first concert. While I collaborate with many artists and contribute jazz elements to their songs, those who missed this event may join us in the next edition. Overall, my concert went well, but it’s worth noting that working with artists can be challenging. Some struggle with punctuality, but you need to understand each one and collaborate effectively.”
The concert featured performances by Juliana Kanyomozi, Maurice Kirya, Kenneth Mugabi, and B2C. Despite initial concerns, Myko Ouma managed to attract a decent crowd for his debut concert.
