In a baffling incident that has left the Kassanda community in shock, a 46-year-old man named Fred Niyoyita and his 42-year-old wife, Keren Sekunda, were discovered deceased at their residence in Katonga Village, Kitumbi Parish, Kitumbi Sub County, Kassanda District. The grim discovery was made on Friday morning around 7 a.m. by local residents who were en route to their gardens, according to Ms. Rachel Kawala, the spokesperson for Wamala regional police.
Upon close examination of the scene, the concerned residents detected multiple fresh cuts on Mr. Niyoyita’s head and an open door to his house. Upon entering, they found the lifeless body of Mrs. Sekunda lying face down on her bed.
Local authorities were promptly informed, and the case was reported to the police. Preliminary investigations have suggested that the couple, who had been married for more than 25 years, had a history of prolonged domestic violence. It is suspected that following the tragic murder of Mrs. Sekunda, Mr. Niyoyita might have fallen victim to a mob attack.
Further investigation revealed that Mrs. Sekunda had suffered a head injury from a blunt object, possibly a log, which was discovered near her body. Both bodies have been transported to Kassanda Health Centre IV for postmortem examinations.
