William Matungo, a resident of Kagaahi village, Kucuzi sub-county in Ibanda district has been remanded to Nyabuhikye Prison on charges of murdering Melezadeki Byamugisha.
It is alleged that Matungo and others still at large attacked and killed Byamugisha, a resident of Kagaahi village on August 15, 2021.
After killing Byamugisha, the suspects also burnt down the deceased’s house to get rid of the evidence.
“You unlawfully and willfully set fire on the house of Melezadeki Byamugisha on August 15, 2021, which contravenes section 327(a) of the Penal Code Act,” Matungo was told during the reading of the charges against him while appearing before the Ibanda Grade One magistrate, Siena Owomugisha, on Wednesday, 8 September.
Her worship Owomugisha advised him not to take any plea, saying the offences were of capital nature only triable by the High Court.
The suspect was remanded to Nyabuhikye Prison until September 22 when the case comes up for mention
