According to the unit commander Capt. James Ankunda”The operation against illegal fishing practices are ongoing untill all illegal practices are fully handled and eliminated.
When talking one of the fishermen whose 2 boats and 5 nets were burnt down by the unit ,Mr Amos(not his real name) to keep his identity private,he said” These people hide in that act to only take our money and when you fail to pay them they get back in this manner and this government of NRM which we have supported for decades,it is doing nothing to solve the issue”
“And remember when they are asking for our votes, they promise heaven on earth including dealing with this corruption habit on water, but see” he added.
“This has been occuring many times along the kazinga channel lakes ie Edward and George lakes in Kasese district. It could be better with no complaining sides”says the site chairperson.
However other residents in the area gave thanks to the unit
